LES ARCS – there’s something for everyone!

Yes it really is true! Whether you want one of biggest ski areas in the world, tree lined skiing, amazing off piste, speed skiing, snow parks, speed riding with sail, tobogganing or the longest red run in the world, it’s all here.

LES ARCS – part of the massive Paradiski area

This huge Savoyard ski area is part of Paradiski, linking les Arcs and la Plagne, with the amazing Vanoise Express cable car, the largest double decker in Europe. There are 425 kilometres of runs linked by 141 lifts and split into 475 separate pistes. 71% of the ski runs are at heights in excess of 2,000 metres, with skiing from glaciers at over 3,000 metres. It is possible to ski all day from one village to another, exploring this beautiful region, using the matrix of connecting lifts.

LES ARCS – tree lined skiing

There is amazing tree lined skiing covering the area to our Chalet Bonjour-Père Marie in le Pré. This is ideal for windy or blizzard days, giving much a improved perspective in low light. Other excellent tree lined skiing can be found in the area around Peisey.

LES ARCS – off piste

There are superb off piste possibilities in les Arcs, some safe and others requiring high altitude guides. One of the best thrills for the off piste skier is off the back of the Aiguille Rouge down to our village of le Pré (Guide needed).

LES ARCS – speed skiing

For the winter Olympics of 1992, a “Speed Skiing” course was created. Public access to this straight line skiing is often permitted with the start point controlled to create speed limits for safety reasons!

LES ARCS – snow parks

With jumps of all sizes for skiers and boarders of all abilities there is the Apocalypse Park, centrally situated between Arc 1800 and Arc 1600

LES ARCS – speed riding with sail

Arc 2000 is the base for the largest Speed Riding school in France. There is an area dedicated to Speed Riding and using a reduced size paragliding sail so you can soon learn to fly as well as ski!

LES ARCS – tobogganing

The Rodéo Park is a toboggan run set at high altitude at the top of the Transarc Gondola. Creating an amazing 3,000 metres adrenalin burst, it is open in the afternoons every day except Friday and Saturday.

LES ARCS – the longest red run in the world

This 7 kilometre run finishes in our village of le Pré. It starts at the top of the highest peak in les Arcs, the Aiguille Rouge and has a vertical drop of 2026 vertical meters. After completing this, a beer in the la Ferme bar is recommended before the 2 minute walk back to your chalet.

Chalet Bonjour-Père Marie, is our most luxurious catered chalet and is situated in the beautiful old village of le Pré, Villaroger, les Arcs in the Paradiski area, catering for small or large numbers of guests. It is only a 3 minute walk to the lift and piste, centrally located in this completely unspoiled village. The position is perfect for your ski holiday in France.

Chalet Père Marie has been built for us over the last two years and we have used the knowledge gleaned from our other chalets to create what we think is a perfect luxury chalet. Extensive use has been made of timber, both old and new, in all rooms. Chalet Père Marie has all the character of a one hundred year old chalet, but is fitted out with all the modern conveniences that today’s standards require. The photos, we hope, give some idea of the quality of our les Arcs chalet.

The luxury and comfort of this chalet is complimented by the usual high Ski Bonjour standards, in food, wine and service, creating a superb atmosphere and allowing you to enjoy a top ski holiday, right from day one.

In addition to our standard facilities for your ski chalet holiday in les arcs, the Chalet Bonjour-Père Marie offers:

General Layout

There are three floors In Chalet Bonjour-Père Marie all linked by a beautiful, large, spiral, stone staircase. There are bedrooms on all three floors, many with balconies. The dining room and sitting room, situated on the top floor, have fantastic views over the valley, clearly showing the pistes and resort of la Rosiere and the pistes of Saint Foy, sparkling away at night. The middle floor is comprised entirely of bedrooms with a large balcony and terrace. The lower floor again has bedrooms along with a sauna and the entrance to the boot and ski room, which has direct access outside. All rooms in the Chalet Bonjour-Père Marie have underfloor heating.

Dining Room / Sitting Room

These two rooms, the heart of our le Pré, les Arcs, Chalet-Bonjour Père Marie, form a large “L” shape on the top floor. A massive window occupies the whole of one wall, with French windows out onto the full length balcony. A wood burner, sitting in a huge stone fireplace with a stone chimney breast, is the central feature of the sitting room. There are ample comfortable seats, even when the chalet is full. From the two long tables in the dining room, adjacent to our professionally equipped kitchen, the views across the valley can clearly be seen, with the lights twinkling away in the distance.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms are larger than the average ski chalet bedrooms and all have beautiful bathrooms and toilet, some with showers and baths and some with just showers. All have hairdryers. Many of the bedrooms have amazing views and balconies or terrace access. There are several family rooms as well as twins and doubles. All bedrooms have under-floor heating, WiFi and flat screen UK televisions. Sound insulation for all bedrooms is to a high standard.

Sauna and Ski room

On the ground floor is a sauna, which is free of charge and available to use from 4pm to 7pm. Under 14’s must be accompanied by an adult. The ski and boot room is well fitted out and has heated boot driers. There are plenty of seats and, having changed into ski/board boots, guests can then access the outside without returning through the chalet.

First night reception

Having settled in to Chalet Père Marie on the first night, bubbly and canapés will be served, whilst you have a chance to meet the staff and build an appetite for the dinner to follow!

Dinner

Served at 7.30pm, dinner consists of four courses, culminating in the cheeseboard, and is accompanied by red and white wines in abundance. Coffee, decaffeinated coffee, tea and hot chocolate are served after dinner and are taken in the sitting room, where you can relive the excitement of the day, before going out to one of the bars, or retiring for a good night’s sleep, in your les Arcs chalet!

Points to Note

Everyone enjoys a few drinks more than normal on a ski holiday and our staff will provide you with plenty of wine during dinner. However, we do not at any time tolerate loutish behaviour or drunkenness that disturbs or upsets our other guests, our staff or our neighbours.During your stay, our chalet staff will look after you to the best of their abilities. It must be remembered that they are not full time professional staff, so please do not expect levels of service to reach that of luxury hotels.

Conclusion

Centrally Located for Slope and Lifts

The main piste and lift is only a 3 minutes level walk from the Chalet Père Marie, so easy access to and from the ski area is a real benefit for your ski holiday les Arcs. Cars or mini buses can be parked directly outside the front of the chalet for unloading and, when available, our staff will help you to take your bags and skis to your rooms. There are two parking spaces at the chalet and a public car park close by.

Lovely Old Village

Le Prè is simply a stunningly beautiful village. There are no concrete high rise buildings or indeed modern style buildings of any sort. The village is, as yet, completely unspoilt and consists of old farm houses and barns in excellent, well cared for condition. Our chalet, one of the closest to the slopes, does not let the side down! There are two excellent bars and a Savoyard restaurant, but if you want night clubs or discos, it’s not for you.

Fully Catered Chalet

As with all our chalets, Père Marie is fully catered. Breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner with unlimited red and white wine is included on 6 days. The staff day off is on the seventh day, but breakfast and afternoon tea is still provided. This gives you the opportunity to try some regional dishes, perhaps at la Ferme, an excellent restaurant in the village, a lunch time target of skiers from all over the Paradiski area.

Traditional Style Built for 2012/13 Season

Chalet Père Marie has been built for us over the last two years and we have used the knowledge gleaned from our other chalets to create what we think is a perfect luxury chalet. Extensive use has been made of timber, both old and new, in all rooms. Chalet Père Marie has all the character of a one hundred year old chalet, but is fitted out with all the modern conveniences that today’s standards require.

Dedicated Chalet Ski/Board Host – Free Day Skiing in Tignes / Val d’Isère

On five days each week, our ski host will show you around the mountain (minimum standard – you ski blues comfortably, and reds without fear, if not elegantly). On one of these days, weather permitting, we will transfer you free of charge, with your ski host, to Tignes/Val d’Isère to ski for the day. The lift pass for one day in Tignes/Val d’Isère is free with a 6 day or more Paradiski whole area pass.

Snowsure

Les Arcs has an excellent record for snow and, as our slopes are North facing and have snow making equipment, there are rarely problems due to lack of snow. If there is ever a time when the links into the main system are not operating, we will transfer you, without cost, to the nearest lifts.
